Entertainment & The Arts
I am a freelance writer and entrepreneur by heart. I'm starting a few businesses in the next few years, but have a bit of a domino effect for the various ventures in terms of income and investment strategies. So, I'm hoping to first find someone on here that can assist me with book covers for a young-adult trilogy that I'm working on and then branch out with me to several other projects.
What's your vision?
I need a book cover created for the first of three books in my young-adult series entitled "Soul Keeper". This first book would be titled "Deceived" and I was thinking of something along the lines of the following: (There is FULL liberty to be creative in this with me as I'm not an artist, obviously right?) A dark sky at the top of the book, an old hand-watch hanging down the book with perhaps black tendrils wrapping around it from the sky and I'm thinking perhaps the face (no hair) of a lovely young (17-19 looking) female at the bottom. Her face horizontally across the page (eyes closed) as if the black tendrils would reach from the sky across the clock and drip down upon her. I'm open to just about anything in terms of ideas, and even though my idea is busy, I'm very much a minimalist. Some of the book covers that I've seen that I honestly adore in terms of style would be Holly Black's "Tithe" and "Ironside", or what Lauren Kate did with her Fallen series. Something that represents the book and yet isn’t a picture of a specific girl, but perhaps a drawing of an object/female or both. I'm much more interested (I think) in illustration vs. a photo, but I'm open for anything in terms of ideas. On the cover I want the name Deceived, as well as a smaller font notation for the series below it, which is Soul Keeper Series, Book 1. Please note that the story has a Greek mythology back-story, which I’d want portrayed in the font used for the title, but nothing to do with the actual picture itself. I want my name at the bottom of the page somehow as L.A. Starkey On the back cover of the book I want the following: (centered and perhaps in italics?) One heart with two parts, split between twins. Two bodies that hold, one despondent young man. They say a soul is the immaterial essence, the animating principal, the actuating cause of an individual life. But what if you had to share yours with the one person you hated the most? As the battle ensues, against himself he will stand. Her pendulum swings, with balance in hand. The soulmate principal states that for every one soul there is another that will recognize its match, hence creating the perfect union. But what if you had two soul mates, which would you choose? For this generation, will affect us all. For the same man will rise, but he also will fall. What if your choices had eternal ramification? Please visit www.lastarkey.com to learn more about the author and the next book, “Descent” in the Soul Keeper Series. (I assume a small space will need to be left unmarked with words and such at the bottom right for the ISBN information.)
I need the cover delivered as a single (one-piece) PDF that includes the back cover, spine and front cover. Please make sure that the cover continues the artistic expression from the front as you see fit to the spine and back cover. On the spine, please just put, “Deceived” and Book 1. I need a .85’’ spine because the book is 375 pages long. I’m looking at a 5 x 8 inch book. (Not sure if this matters to you, but if it does, here is the info.)
