After spending 32 years on the road speaking over 220 days a year, it’s time to share the knowledge I’m accumulated in the form of a series of books and I’m looking to you to create the winning book cover for this series.
This book cover will be a series of book, possibly several books.
The title for this series of books is:
60-Minute Masters Class On…
I’m thinking the image I’ve attached with 60 Minutes in the middle of it might play a significant role in the look and feel of the book cover so this series of books would have a distinctive look.
I want to create a book cover that can be used for numerous books on various topics, and the only thing that will be different is the color scheme of the book and a word or two in the title of the book.
Let me explain. Here are some of the first book titles I’m rolling out.
60-Minute Masters Class on Sales
60-Minute Masters Class on Prospecting
60-Minute Masters Class on Marketing
60-Minute Masters Class on Branding.
60-Minute Masters Class on Referrals
60-Minute Masters Class on Advertising
In other words, I want to create a brand, 60-Minute Masters Class Books. This will give me the flexibility to create a book on any topic, not just sales and marketing. (Think the For Dummies Series of books, but I want something beautiful and not cheesy)
When people see this book cover, I want them to know it’s another in a long line of books in the 60-Minute Masters Class book series.
(Please refer to the attached PDF file called: Examples of Book Series By Various Authors) This attached PDF file will give you examples of how authors have created a series of books that all have the same look and feel from book to book.
In a nutshell, let me explain the story behind the 60-Minute Masters Class books.
If you were to go to a book publisher and tell them you wanted to write a Non-Fiction book, they would tell you it should be about 50,000 words or about 220 pages. The problem is that most authors run out of really valuable things to say after 20,000 words, but since the publisher told them they need 220 pages, they fill the rest of the book up with “fluff” just to fill up space and make the book 220 pages and 50,000 words to keep their publisher happy.
I’m taking a different approach on this series of books. I want the book to be a 1-hour read…hence the title, 60-Minute Masters Class.
We all know what a Masters Degree is in college…I want to take a topic for the book, and out of the normal 220 pages, I want to whittle it down and whittle it down and whittle it down so all that is left is the best of the best ideas that have the most impact. Out of a normal 50,000 word book on sales, there’s probably only about 20,000 words that are the best of the best ideas. That’s what the 60-Minute Masters Class Book Series is about.
It’s easy to write a 220 page book if you’re just trying to fill up pages, but it’s much more difficult if you know you’ve only got 100 pages max, and you’ve got to cull and throw out and whittle down so what’s left are the best of the best ideas that will give people an easy read in 60 minutes, provide great material full of the very best ideas, thereby saving them a bunch of time wasted on reading “filler”.
I’ve attached an image that might get you thinking as part of the book cover. It says, 60 MINUTES in the middle. (See the attached image) Feel free to use that or come up with something better.
