I don't want the typical design of a book in the crime genre as mine has that quirky comedy element and I'm not trying to hide it. I've enclosed pictures of some covers I think probably reflect my book more.
As the title is long, images as in the samples shown below with the name dominating the front cover is certainly an option but obviously that is only one of many.
Another would be any variations featuring the outline of a head as it would fit with the name. Again, I am much keener on drawn than anything using photos.
My central character is a small time conman who takes advantage of the fact that he often gets confused for other people. Think late 20s for age and his clean shaven.
The fact that he is often confused for other people because he is the exact average of the typical irish male is a factor in the book - so feel free to experiment with ideas around him having identity issues - i.e. not really knowing who he is because he is always pretending to be somebody else.
Other than that, please check out the samples. I'm looking for bold and striking, not trying to fit in with the genre conventions. Please ask any questions and thanks for taking the time to read.
Please Note: While I'm fine for stock images to be used to do mockups of what ideas will look like, the final cover will need to be entirely original.
Update: Here are a few more concepts that I'd like to see if any of them inspire you. To be clear, these are definitely not the only things I'm looking for so definitely don't be afraid to try other things.
1/ I'd still like to see some designs with the name dominant as in the two Christopher Brookmyre covers below. Fun ideas with one or two letters being replaced with silhouettes/bulletholes/bullets/anything else you can think of most welcome.
2/ Designs using multiple faces/silhouettes either identical or with slight variations to denote the central character's identity issues.
3/ A design centered around the face composed as an e-fit perhaps?
To be clear, those are 3 separate concepts, don't feel you have to cram them all in.
