We seek a cover design for a historical novel, Tiger Pelt. The book is about a dirt-poor farm boy, Kim Young Nam, who comes of age in a savage time and a ravaged place: Korea during the Japanese occupation followed by the Korean War. His quest for an education propels him on an odyssey that spans the Korean peninsula and crosses the Pacific. Meanwhile, a parallel life unfolds. Lee Hana, a twelve year old innocent, is kidnapped and forced to work as a comfort woman for the Japanese military. She survives the war but the damage she suffered continues to haunt her wretched life. The two characters collide in a near-death encounter during a raging monsoon when Kim risks his life to save the country beauty. Decades later, on the opposite side of the world, their paths intersect again and Kim faces a decision that will alter the course of his life. There is NO romantic relationship between these two characters!
We are looking for an original, attention-grabbing, stylish, artistic cover. The book has nothing to do with tigers and tiger motifs are not relevant. Do not be influenced by old cover mockups on Kirkus Reviews or the Tiger Pelt Facebook page. We will not be using the mockup cover nor the photograph shown nor any facsimile thereof.
The front cover should include the following text:
