Veber got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Attractive cover for the canal cruiser's handbook

Thomas Veber has crossed the Atlantic several times, sailed to the Mediterranean, Africa, Norway, Finland and The Caribbean – but also to the next door marinas and anchorages.
My book "Slusehåndbogen" (it is Danish, in English it could be translated to "The canal cruiser's hand book") is being revised and printed in the 5th edition. The book teaches you how to cruise the European inland waterways (rivers and canals) with your own boat. It describes everything you need to know about which certificates you need, which way to sail, what boats you can do it with, how to avoid problems etc. It is the one-stop-go if you want to sail with your own boat on canals or rivers.

Book cover type
This new edition will now be the first book in a series of guidebooks to the European rivers and canals. Where this book is the "how-to book", the next books will be guidebooks to the rivers in different European countries. Please think this into the design, that there will come more books in the series, which should have a similar design, but yet distinguishable (e.g. the next books could have different colour, photos - but still look simmilar, so it is clear to see that it is the same series. I have attached an image of the previous edition also - just for reference - I am sure that the cover YOU create will be much nicer! Also I have attached some photos. I can send a lot more if needed.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their book cover.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
Veber collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
I appreciated how carefully and well the designer listened to me and how easy he was to work with. I'm very pleased with his work and will look for him when choosing a cover for my next book. From start to finish, this has been an easy and fun process.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
