John2009105530 got their new app by running a design contest:
New tablet/Ipad design wanted for CookEatShare
Check out John2009105530's App contest…
CookEatShare is a popular web application for finding, storing, and sharing recipes. The site is integrated with Facebook to make sharing with friends easy. The site offers for free advanced functionality, like a menu planner, nutritional information, and recipe cost information, that most sites charge a subscription for. CookEatShare makes money through advertisements found on the site.
What's your vision?
We want to build an Ipad/tablet friendly version on CookEatShare using HTML5 and JQuery for mobile. For the initial version, we'd like to include at least the following: Home Page* Recipe Search Results Page* Recipe View Page (internal & external)* Chef Profile Page* Recipe Box Page* Sign Up/Register Flow We would initially like you to design the pages with an * after them. We want to largely emulate the current functionality of the site, but to make it easy to execute with a touch interface and to better use the screen interface. Mostly we are looking for a clean design that focuses attention on the recipes, photos, and reviews, while still providing the user with lots of related, relevant recipes and other content so they can easily browse through the recipes most likely to meet their needs. If you want to design 1-2 pages first for feedback, please start with the recipe search results page and/or the internal recipe view page. See the Design Doc attachment below for more details.
We like aspects of the following HTML 5 applications: mobile.twitter.com: registered member photo/name/drop down in upper right; simple, skinny, persistent navigation on top; use of icons; list of tweets look and feel; overall simplicity app.ft.com (financial times): look and feel; ability to hide nav; use of horizontal swipe for navigating top level sections and within stories; ability to increase font size within stories (upper right); additional story links at end of stories vudu.com: Persistent search box; browse functionality which pops on top of application when invoked; Rating functionality and signup screens; It is not required that you use our current logo, but I have included it below. We may prefer if the version shares some visual elements in common with the current site, but you should not constrain yourself. If you have an idea for a dramatic change in the design that you think is for the better, please feel free to go with it. I'll give you my feedback as quickly as possible.
